LAKE DISTRICT ACTIVITIES

We know some of you will be thinking about spending more than a weekend in the Lake District. September can be a beautiful time of year in the Lakes with lots to do. Here are a couple of small suggestions of activities. If you're planning something else, we'd be more than happy to give you our recommendations.

The Lakes has some of the most beautiful scenery in the country and there's no better way to experience it than going for a walk. For more experienced hikers you might want to take on Helvellyn and Striding Edge (pictured) or tackle the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike. For a nice stroll we recommend Orrest Head in Windermere for a beautiful view of the lake. Walking in The Langdales gives you some amazing picturesque views and from Rydal you can climb Loughrigg Fell for amazing 360 views. Let us know if you need any advice.

A cruise on Lake Windermere is a great way to spend a day. Boats go from Bowness Pier, Waterside in Ambleside and Lakeside near Newby Bridge. You can also hire a boat to take out on the Lake.

If you're looking to just relax, there are lots of great spas in the Lake District. Around Windermere / Ambleside, we suggest The Low Wood. They do lots of packages and you get amazing views across the lake from their outdoor infinity pools and hot tubs.

If it rains (and it probably will), Ambleside, Windermere and Bowness have a great selection of pubs, cafes and shops to visit.

GOLF

We know some of you travelling are keen golfers. Windermere Golf Course is the closest course to play.

If you're looking for a slightly easier course, Carus Green near Kendal is good for all levels. It also has a driving range if you're just looking to hit a few balls.
